Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) says no one is buying the story that former President Trump didn’t have a sexual relationship with porn actress Stormy Daniels, quipping to CNN, “You don’t pay someone $130,000 not to have sex with you.”
Trump has vociferously denied having sex with the porn star. Trump hasn't been charged with having sex with Stormy Daniels. It's not even illegal. But Trump has to deal with the court of public opinion, and there is no appealing that court. Regardless of what happens in the Manhattan trial, I don't see how Trump doesn't wind up a loser in the court of public opinion. Six weeks of talking about this cannot be good for a presidential candidate. Women in particular won't like what they hear.
Here are the possibilities as I see them. A person can believe that:
Trump had sex with Daniels, lied that he didn't, paid her hush money.
Trump didn't have sex with Daniels, but meekly paid her hush money anyway (despite his aggressive litigious history of never admitting fault).
Trump didn't have sex with Daniels, but reasons of his own, Michael Cohen took out a second mortgage and paid Daniels $130,000 (that's the Trump defense version)
Btw, isn't it interesting that Trump's wife Melania, or any family members are not in the courtroom offering Trump their moral support?
